Tuhka dwelling house

My husband and me we used to work in the collective farm named after J. M. Sverdlov when we heard that Tuhka Farm was for sale and there was a buyer for it in the neighbouring collective farm. Our advantage was that we were young and members of the collective farm, that's what decided why they chose us, and since June 1985, we are the owners of Tuhka Farm. We moved in in December 1985. The house is one of the oldest ones in the area, built in 1885.

Our family has six members: Aivar Osvin (43) used to work as a tractor operator in the collective farm, at present, he's a cemetery guard at Kaika Cemetery, self-employed since 1999 and the owner of the Woods Crone Food Grange. Ene Osvin (41) used to work as a bookkeeper in the collective farm, now she takes care of two elderly people. Their daughters Meeli (18), Mari (17) and Maiu (15) and son Mart (10) attend Antsla Gymnasium.

Since 1999, we are a part of the Woods Crone Family Park; we run its Smoke Sauna Grange. We offer smoke sauna and relaxation in an old garner. We raise cattle and grow plants. In winter, we make handicraft and ski.

The children can speak English and German. They take part in all our activities. The girls work in the information centre of Karula National Park in summertime.

In the future, we are planning to arrange some kind of accommodation and ski tracks for wintertime, Woods Crone Food Grange and café are open in summer. We consider also other farms of the Woods Crone.
