The Story of Oru
Oru Farm (Valley Farm) got its name from its location – a valley, embraced by hills. The hills are wonderful here.
And they all have names: Kunnmägi in north of the farm complex, Lättemägi and Korgõmägi in Northeast and east, Tornimägi
of Rebasemõisa, which is the highest peak of Karula upland, in Northwest and west. There's a legend about the big and steep
Mõisamägi, which is in south, near Madsa:
Once upon a time, guests came to Täta Farm from a flat place called Helme. They didn't manage to get there before dark
and when darkness fell, the horses were afraid to go down Mõisamäe hill because the valley looked like the hell – black,
steep, deep and fire was at the bottom. (The Madsa people celebrated Midsummer Eve with a bonfire.) The relatives couldn't
do anything else but spend the night there on top of the hill and go to Tätä farm in the morning.
